Description

Summary: In our August 15th, 2025 documentation release on Evolve Enterprise Plus, Evolve released ACH Incoming Returns extract layout version 4.0, inclusive of both new and updated field names, amongst other changes. Returns v4.0 will be the go-forward version of the Returns data extract. This file is used by Evolve clients to support incoming ACH returns, and to assist with reconciliation and posting efforts. Impact: This Returns v4.0 release included breaking changes for clients receiving Returns extracts currently, as was outlined in our "Breaking Change" notification released on Evolve Enterprise Plus in September. On Saturday, January 24th, 2026, the Returns v4.0 layout for Incoming ACH Returns will become the go-forward version, and previous versions currently in production will be retired. The largest impact for this change is applicable to clients currently receiving Returns extracts in JSON or CSV format. No changes are expected to the NACHA format, as NACHA is a standardized file format. Additionally, Evolve will also begin enriching the Account Activity file with additional values to help assist with incoming ACH return reconciliation. Please note, however, that no changes to the Account Activity file format itself will take place. Finally, Evolve is postponing the launch of the new, optional "ANCR-Returns" file until Saturday, February 21st 2026. Therefore, no immediate action is needed to implement this extract by the 1/24/2026 Returns cutover. IMPORTANT: Please be advised that incoming ACH returns received after 9:00pm Central on Friday, January 23rd may not appear on Returns data extracts until after cutover is completed on Saturday, January 24th.
